Reconstructing the Primordial Power Spectrum
نویسنده
چکیده
The combination of Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) anisotropy measurements and Large-Scale Structure observations has caused dissatisfaction with the standard Cold Dark Matter (sCDM) cosmogony, leading some to advocate a “tilt” of the primordial power spectrum away from scale-invariant (n = 1) to n = 0.8− 0.9. 1 Other CDM cosmogonies have not commonly been tilted but their agreement with the data might also improve. Because the primordial power spectrum is an inherent set of degrees of freedom in all CDM cosmogonies, we adopt a set of models and find the best-fit primordial power spectrum for each. This allows us to determine if the reconstructed primordial power spectra show any common features across the set of currently preferred cosmogonies.

Reconstructing the primordial power spectrum
We reconstruct the shape of the primordial power spectrum from the latest cosmic microwave background data, including the new results from the Wilkinson Microwave Anisotropy Probe (WMAP), and large scale structure data from the two degree field galaxy redshift survey (2dFGRS). We tested four parameterizations taking into account the uncertainties in four cosmological parameters. First we parame...
متن کاملA Measurement of the Primordial Power Spectrum from Maxima and Boomerang Data
Model-independent measurements of the primordial power spectrum of matter density fluctuations provide a unique probe of physics in the very early universe, and can provide powerful constraints on inflationary models. We parametrize the primordial power spectrum A2s(k) as an arbitrary function, and measure its binned amplitude from the cosmic microwave background radiation anisotropy (CMB) data...
متن کاملOn Minimally-Parametric Primordial Power Spectrum Reconstruction and the Evidence for a Red Tilt
The latest cosmological data seem to indicate a significant deviation from scale invariance of the primordial power spectrum when parameterized either by a power law or by a spectral index with non-zero “running”. This deviation, by itself, serves as a powerful tool to discriminate among theories for the origin of cosmological structures such as inflationary models. Here, we use a minimally-par...
متن کاملPost-wmap Assessment of Infrared Cutoff in the Primordial Spectrum from Inflation
The recent Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) measurements indicate that there is power deficiency of the CMB anisotropies at large scales compared with the ΛCDM model. We have investigated the possibility of explaining such effects by a class of primordial power spectra which have infrared cutoffs close to the horizon scale. The primordial power spectrum recovered by direct deconvolution of the...

We describe an attempt to reconstruct the initial conditions for the formation of cosmological large-scale structure, under the assumption of gravitational instability in a Gaussian density field. Information on the power spectrum of the primordial fluctuations is provided by a variety of autocorrelation and cross-correlation analyses on samples of different classes of galaxy and galaxy cluster...
